Park jumps

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

Nice afternoon to wait for the riders to hit the big jump. Patience is a must in photography, isn’t it John?

But it can pay off:

PS: If you are or know someone on this photos, please leave a comment to let me know the rider’s name, thanks.

Today Shane and I went to look for spots to try to take a few photos. After a rather unsuccessful early try, Shane spotted a nice place where I took those:

First photos from Mount Washington

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

I’ve been lazy today and stayed in bed until 7am, so I missed the sunrise. Well, at least I wasn’t in the mountains in time. I did get there early enough to take a few photos with a nice deep blue sky though. A lovely 3 hours hike in the deep *deep* snow.

So what does it look like? Well, as you will see, we have (at least we had a few days ago) the deepest snowpack in the world. Plenty of powder, and now that the holidays are finished, it’s very quiet during the week.

Yes, you can see the sea from the top of the mountain. Mount Washington is on Vancouver Island. When the weather is clear, you can even see Whistler, and Mount Baker (USA)
