Driving from the West Fjords to Skagafjörður, Iceland 2013

After a week hiking in the West Fjords I headed North to Skagafjörður. Lots of wind and snow on the way, sometimes to the point where I could not see the front of the car anymore and had to stop and wait a bit for the visibility to improve. All the following photos were taken from inside the car and somehow the camera was able to see a lot better than I could, so what is visible on the photos is actually a lot more than I could see while driving...

Leaving the West Fjords, the weather was not so bad, just really windy

And I could enjoy the great view of the coastline

But having to go up and cross the mountains things got a little worse

And the visibility reduced a lot

But never for too long

So I also enjoyed some of the mountains before getting to Blönduós

Where things became... white. If you look carefully you can see the posts on the side of the road. The camera could, not I.

And suddenly I knew I was in Skagafjordur, horse country

No doubt about it, horses everywhere
